With any charity, there are a few key questions that we thought we'd address from the start. If you don't find your questions answered here, please send in your query and we'll get right back to you.

How much of my money will get to Inti Sisa?

Because we are a small family Trust, every penny/cent/peso/mark apart from unavoidable fees (for example banking and trust registration) and taxes will go to Inti Sisa. Trustees are volunteers, our legal advice is pro bono, and this website is donated by PKP Consulting.

Does every donation go direct to Inti Sisa or is the capital invested?

Capital is invested so that it can continue to produce income for support to Inti Sisa. It will cost approximately US$400.00 to keep a child at school for a year. The more money we have invested, the more children we can support. This way we can ensure that a child can complete her secondary schooling and offer some stability and security for the family, and remain contribute to her or his community.

Why Children in Ecuador? Why not support Australian Children?

This is a common question in a climate where there is perceived competition for the compassionate dollar. However, if hearts are moved, there are more than enough resources for all. Certainly, there are several reasons why we chose Guamote, Ecuador. Firstly, we were drawn to this project by the compelling reasons of the heart. The parallels between young girls' experience and that of my mother was an immediate connection. Secondly, there is (nominally) free education for all children in Australia. Where extra costs are a problem there are numerous support and welfare agencies who offer varying degrees of assistance. Thirdly, the reasons some indigenous children do not attend school have complex causes that money alone will not address.

Indeed, there are multiple trusts established for indigenous students. If you wish to sponsor Australian children to continue their education, may we ask for a one time, $20.00 donation -- the cost of a movie with a coke and ice cream. For ways to help in Australia visit Philanthropy.com; World vision or, The Smith Family site.

Can I make a one-off donation or do I have to commit to long term sponsorship?

We welcome any donation, large or small. Many people prefer to give a smaller, regular amount. This also works for us. Pledged donations allow us to budget, provide financial stability and it is easy to set up as a direct debit to our bank account (contact us for details).

Can schools and companies assist Inti Sisa through Education for Ecuador?

We are encouraging children in Victorian Schools to raise money for Inti Sisa and we are working on establishing links so that children may correspond with each other and learn about different cultures. With company sponsorships, a company might choose to engage with Inti Sisa directly. We are most happy to facilitate that and work with companies in an integrated way. For example, Inti Sisa need US$5000.00 to buy 27 computers to replace their antiquated computers through a UK Subsidy. This is a relatively small donation but will make a world of difference to the people of Inti Sisa. Companies with trade links in Ecuador are strongly encouraged to participate.
