Education for Ecuador (Australia) Inc's purpose is to facilitate the creation of sustainable communities and invest in social capital in Guamote, Ecuador, in partnership with the Non-Government Organizations or the communities themselves.

Our first project is with Inti Sisa (Sunflower Centre), established in the region for a decade. We will provide educational support for Guamote youth, with the proviso of affirmative action for the education of girls and young women. Currently, though national literacy levels are high, in Guamote education is a most problematic area.

All funding from Education for Ecuador will be awarded in the name of an Australian woman, Patrica Eileen Monaghan (née West). Her siblings, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren can think of no better way to honour and enshrine her memory.
